The husband of a woman killed in a suspected DUI crash in Fresno County dies in the hospital

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) – The husband of the woman killed in a suspected DUI crash in Fresno County has died.

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said 69-year-old Paul Hardin died in the hospital Monday.

Paul and his wife Mary had just moved from Texas to the Central Valley in January. Maria served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

According to the California Highway Patrol, 54-year-old David Alvarado rammed the Nissan and a Hardin Camaro with his Ford pickup while the two cars were waiting at a stoplight.

Mary died at the scene.

Alvarado was arrested and suspected of driving under the influence at the time of the accident.

Action News learned Alvarado was on probation and had a history of driving under the influence.
