Coroner identifies man killed in crash in downtown Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Allen County coroner identified the man killed in a crash in downtown Fort Wayne. The crash occurred in the early hours of Saturday, May 11th.

The coroner identified the man as 30-year-old Dylan Andrew Powers of Fort Wayne. The coroner ruled the death an accidental death due to multiple blunt force injuries. Powers’ death marks the eighth fatal crash in Allen County in 2024.


According to a news release from the Fort Wayne Police Department, an initial investigation revealed that Powers was driving a pickup truck the wrong way west on E. Wayne Street just before 1 a.m. when he began to approach the intersection with S. Clinton Street cross over. , a car traveling south on Clinton crashed into the pickup truck.

Powers was thrown from the vehicle onto the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were two teenagers in the other car. One was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released. The other was uninjured.
