The Lock Haven Fire Department continues to investigate the cause of a fire that released thick smoke along Bellefonte Avenue near Triangle Park Monday evening. According to Fire Chief Tyler Wooding, firefighters were called to 20 Bellefonte Avenue around 9 p.m. When units arrived on scene, Wooding said there was “thick, black smoke” coming from the ground floor. “Crews searched for residents who may have been trapped in the apartments above the fire, but everyone was able to get out safely,” Wooding said. The fire was under control within minutes and crews were able to contain the building to prevent the fire from spreading and conduct an investigation. “The investigation into the cause is ongoing,” Wooding said. No injuries were reported and the LHFD was assisted at the scene by Lock Haven EMS with medical support, Flemington Goodwill Hose with traffic control and Citizens Hose of Jersey Shore with rapid response.
