Fatal boat accident in Hungary

The collision, which occurred on Saturday May 18, was confirmed in a police statement the following day.

According to reports, there were eight adults on board the motorboat at the time of the collision, and a total of 95 people as well as 25 vessels and drones were dispatched to search for the missing five people.

According to Reuters, the accident was reported on Saturday evening after a man with a bleeding head wound was found on the side of the river near Veroce, about 55 km north of the Hungarian capital.

A man’s body was recovered south of Veroce, while a woman’s body was found downstream at a bridge north of Budapest – where the damaged boat was also found.

The police also found that the Swiss cruise ship “Heidelberg,” which was anchored in Komarom, had large scratches on its bow.

Hungarian police have now launched an investigation to determine the cause of the incident and whether anyone is criminally responsible.

A P&O cruise ship, the Ventura, reported an outbreak of gastrointestinal illness after embarking on a two-week voyage to the Canary Islands.
