Singapore Airlines: Passenger dead after severe turbulence on London-Singapore flight

One person has died aboard a Singapore Airlines plane that encountered severe turbulence on a flight from London to Singapore, the airline said on Tuesday.

According to a post on Singapore Airlines’ Facebook page, the plane was diverted to Bangkok. The airline said several people were injured, although the company did not say how many. It said 211 passengers and 18 crew members were on board.

The flight landed in Bangkok at 3:45 p.m. local time (4:45 a.m. ET) on Tuesday.

“We are working with local authorities in Thailand to provide necessary medical assistance and are sending a team to Bangkok to provide additional assistance if needed,” his post said.
