South Korea’s Yoon vetoes investigation into marine drowning death

SEOUL – South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol on Tuesday vetoed a special prosecutor’s investigation into the death of a Marine, drawing sharp condemnation from his political opponents and underscoring concerns about the official stance and commitment to security.

Park Chan-dae, leader of the main opposition Democratic Party, had said before the move that it would amount to a “declaration of war” and promised a “comprehensive response”.
