11 people were arrested during an LAPD raid on the downtown mall

Police arrested 11 people on Sunday for shoplifting at two retailers in FIGat7th Plaza in downtown Los Angeles.

The arrests came during a raid to prevent retail theft at the mall. The Los Angeles Police Department defines a blitz as a saturation of resources and officers in a specific area to combat crime. In some cases, the officers could be undercover and integrated into retailers’ security forces.

In this specific operation, the officers went to two unspecified shops in FIGat7th on Sunday.

The 11 people arrested for shoplifting were between 19 and 57 years old:

  • 21 year old Nanely Esquivel
  • 24 year old Parris Gregory
  • 28 year old Donald Gregory
  • 33-year-old Ailena Vargas
  • 34-year-old Ted Newman
  • 37 year old Gabriel Simmons
  • 47-year-old Ebony Holt
  • 57-year-old Jerry Ivory

The LAPD said several suspects qualified for citation and release under the LA County Misdemeanor Bail Schedule, while others still had outstanding warrants.
