Silver Alert: Missing 84-year-old man from Surry

SURRY, Maine — A Silver Alert was issued late Monday evening for an 84-year-old man missing from his home in Surry.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office issued an alert Monday for 84-year-old Franklin McCormick, who went missing from his home on Toddy Pond Road, according to a news release from the Maine Department of Public Safety. He is reportedly suffering from dementia.

McCormick is described as a white male, 6 feet tall, weighing 145 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. He may be wearing jeans and a dark T-shirt, the release said.

McCormick may have been driving a silver Toyota RAV-4 with Maine license plate 9563KH and headed to West Virginia. However, the Maine Department of Public Safety clarified that McCormick did not know anyone in West Virginia.
