Florence Parks police officer arrested and placed on leave for domestic violence

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Authorities say a Florence Parks police officer has been placed on leave after being arrested Sunday.

According to the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office, officers responded to a call about a “domestic situation” on County Road 107 in Center Star Township.


After an investigation, Jonathan Richey was charged with third-degree domestic violence-harassment.

A spokesperson for the Florence Police Department confirmed to News 19 that Richey was a park patrol officer. The spokesman added that he had been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation.

He was arrested and taken to the Lauderdale County Detention Center, where he is being held on $5,000 bail.
