INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man died and a young woman and a 1-year-old baby suffered abrasions after a shooting Monday evening in a residential area in Indianapolis’s Middle East neighborhood, police said.

Paramedics and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the 4000 block of East 12th Street just before 10:10 p.m. Monday. This is a short distance northeast of the intersection of East 10th Street and North Sherman Drive.

The three people were outside when they were shot, police said. The young woman and the approximately one-year-old baby were stable and had what police described as abrasions. The man’s condition was initially listed as critical, but he later died upon arrival at hospital.

No further information was available about which people were shot, what may have led to the shooting, who, if any, is in custody or whether the area is safe.
