Waterbury police identify car used in fatal hit-and-run crash

WATERBURY, Connecticut — The car used in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Waterbury on Saturday was identified by investigators on Tuesday, according to the city’s Police Department.

According to police, the car believed to have been used in the collision that killed Dwayne Hunter, 46, of Waterbury, was a 2003 to 2007 four-door Honda Accord that had front-end damage was and possibly the driver’s side mirror was missing.

Police released photos of the suspect’s car in a Facebook post here.

Police said officers went to Chase Avenue around 2 a.m. Saturday after receiving a report that a man had been hit by a car and found Hunter lying in the roadway. He was taken to hospital where he later died.

The car that hit Hunter had left the scene of the accident, police said.

The Waterbury Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating and anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact them at 203-346-3975.
