Woman dead, toddler hospitalized after crashing into large tree on I-75 in Alachua County

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. — A woman is dead and a 3-month-old toddler was hospitalized after crashing into a large tree on I-75 in Alachua County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Officials said the woman and toddler were traveling in an SUV on I-75 near MM 402 when it went off the east shoulder of the road.

According to investigators, the SUV crashed into a large tree and overturned.

FHP said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the child was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
