Grocery store owner charged with raping 9-year-old girl | Ludhiana News

Ludhiana: In another case, a minor girl was allegedly raped by a grocery store owner. The nine-year-old girl had gone to the shop to get ice cream when the accused locked her up by tying her arms and raped her. The police have lodged an FIR against the 24-year-old accused under sections of the IPC and POCSO Acts submitted to the 24-year-old defendant. The minor girl’s mother stated in her complaint that the accused lived in her area and ran a grocery store at the entrance of his residence. She sent her daughter to the store to get some ice cream, she said, adding that when her daughter didn’t come home after a while, she went to the store to look for her. “As soon as I reached the store, I saw this.” The defendant had sexually exploited her. When I raised the alarm, the defendant fled. I immediately untied my daughter and confided that when she came into the store, the defendant asked her to come in. When she entered the shop, the accused overpowered her and took her to court after which he raped her,” the woman added. On May 19, Tibba police had arrested a grocer for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl who had gone to his store to buy something. tnn
