Funeral held for Jaylen Griffin

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Friends and family gathered Tuesday morning to remember the life of Jaylen Griffin. The Buffalo teen was found dead last month, nearly four years after he went missing in Buffalo.

His death remains a mystery, as police continue to investigate the cause. His father, Brian Griffin, tells 2 On Your Side’s Rob Hackford that he prays for justice.

Brian Griffin says he has received a lot of support from family, friends and the city of Buffalo during this difficult time.

Jaylen went missing in 2020 and was the subject of a citywide search effort before being found dead 4 years later in a home on Scheffield Avenue. His death is being investigated as a homicide. He was only 12 years old at the time of his disappearance.

Jaylen was remembered at a service at True Bethel Baptist Church for the life he lived and those at the service were also praying for the one he should have lived.

His father says he is still waiting for justice for his son’s death and won’t feel closure until that is done.
