Man dies after officer-involved shooting in South Los Angeles

A man is dead after being shot by a Los Angeles Police Department officer in South LA

The incident occurred on May 19 around 6:40 p.m. near the 100 block of Colden Street. Officers responded to a call about an assault with a deadly weapon in the area.

When they arrived, they encountered a man armed with a knife. The officers asked the man to drop the weapon, but he did not comply.

The man then “walked toward the officers,” which led to them shooting the suspect, the LAPD says.

The identity of the deceased man has not been released, and the LAPD has not identified the officers involved in the shooting.

The shooting is being investigated by LAPD investigators and the District Attorney’s Office.
