Palomo named chief marketing officer at Sam Houston

Sam Houston Race Park announced the hiring of David Palomo as Director of Marketing. The University of Houston graduate has more than a decade of experience in marketing, special events, brand awareness, social media and promotions.

Most recently, Palomo was affiliated with Landry’s Inc. and was instrumental in managing the branding and marketing of Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Rusty Pelican and Mai Tai Bar. His experience collaborating in the food and beverage industry is essential as Winner’s Circle Restaurant and The Jockey Club at Sam Houston Race Park have attracted thousands of guests who enjoy the combination of dining while watching thoroughbred and quarter horse racing live.

Additionally, Palomo enjoyed a seven-year association with the 2017 and 2022 World Series-winning Houston Astros, facilitating community outreach and building customer loyalty for the team and its outdoor events. He continues to be an active member of the University of Houston Alumni Association.

Palomo will oversee marketing, group sales, sponsorship and public relations for the northwest Houston destination, which opened as the first Class 1 racetrack in Texas on April 24, 1994.

“We are thrilled to welcome David to Sam Houston Race Park,” said Bryan Pettigrew, vice president and general manager of Texas racing operations. “His experience in marketing and event management as well as his knowledge of our city will have a big impact as we embark on our next 30 years!
