Rajasthan: POCSO court sentences two brothers to death for raping a 14-year-old girl and burning her alive

(MENAFN – Live Mint) “A POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses) court in Rajasthan’s Bhilwara district on Monday sentenced two brothers to death for gang-raping and burning alive a minor girl in a coal furnace last year. The victim’s remains were found in a brick kiln hours after her disappearance. Anil Gupta described the case as the “rarest of the rare” when announcing the verdict.

On Saturday, the court convicted Kalu and Kanha for the crime committed in August last year. Others accused of destroying evidence were acquitted by the court. The court said the acquittal would be appealed to the Supreme Court. The girl had disappeared on August 2, 2023, when she had gone to graze cattle. According to the police, after a search operation on August 4, half-burned body parts, believed to be that of the 14-year-old girl, were recovered from a pond in the village.
Some body parts were allegedly burned in the oven while other parts were dumped in a pond to destroy any evidence, police said.
According to Indiatoday, Bhilwara SP Adarsh ​​​​Sidhu termed this as a “rare of rare cases” and said that all efforts would be made to ensure that the accused gets death penalty.
