Bintangor man charges for raping pregnant woman in Sibu

SIBU (May 20): A 21-year-old man sought trial for raping a pregnant woman in the Sessions Court here today.

Flolarson Ted, from Bintangor, was charged under Section 376(2)(g) of the Penal Code, which carries a sentence of between 10 and 30 years in prison and caning if convicted.

He is said to have committed the crime around 1 a.m. on April 25 on the top floor of the 22-year-old victim’s house here.

Judge Marutin Pagan allowed the defendant to be released on bail of RM3,000 cash and a local surety.

Marutin also set June 20 for pre-trial case management.

The defendant had no legal representation.
