Georgia WR Sacovie White arrested for reckless driving

Wide receiver Sacovie White is the latest Georgia Bulldogs football player to suffer a traffic accident.

According to Chip Towers from the Atlanta Journal ConstitutionWhite was held at the Athens-Clarke County Jail at 3:04 a.m. Saturday and was eventually released on two bonds totaling $26.

After he was pulled over and charged with reckless driving and driving the wrong way on a one-way street, he ended up in jail.

Towers noted that this is the 17th time that someone associated with the football program has been incarcerated for a traffic incident since the January 2023 fatal accident that killed football player Devin Willock and personnel analyst Chandler LeCroy or is displayed.

Police said LeCroy and then-Georgia defensive back Jalen Carter were speeding at more than 100 miles per hour when this accident occurred. Carter, now a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, pleaded no contest and was sentenced to 12 months probation, a $1,000 fine and 80 hours of community service.

As for White, this is the second arrest in 2024 for a traffic accident involving a Georgia football player.

As Towers noted, running back Trevor Etienne was charged with drunken driving, reckless driving and two other misdemeanors after he was arrested in March for allegedly driving more than 80 mph in a 40 mph zone.

Neither player was with the Bulldogs last season.

Etienne transferred from Florida to Georgia while White was part of the 2024 recruiting class. White was one of the first participants in January.
