Latest war in Ukraine: Ukraine “destroys Russian Black Sea minesweeper” | World News

“The world cannot wait” – Britain’s Defense Secretary confirms military aid has been “hurriedly” sent to Ukraine

The British Defense Secretary has confirmed “urgent” military aid to Ukraine.

Grant Shapps said the “world cannot wait” as he called on nations to “step up” and support Kiev’s fight against Russia.

The goods sent by the UK include 80 defense missiles, one million rounds of ammunition and 20 Viking amphibious protected vehicles.

Mr Shapps’ tweet comes after he called on allies to give Ukraine permission to use the weapons it supplies against targets in Russia-annexed Crimea.

“We have been very, very clear to the world and helped Ukraine – for example, by issuing authorizations for the use of our weapons throughout Ukraine… including Crimea, which was captured by Putin in 2014,” he told The Sunday BBC with Laura Kuenssberg:

“Now we don’t address how we would allow targeting of our weapons to be used beyond that. But we provide Ukraine with our weapons so that it can defend its country.”

Pressed on Volodymyr Zelensky’s calls for weapons to be made available for attacks inside Russia, Mr Shapps said: “I cannot go into the details of these private discussions about exactly how the weapons will be used.”
