José Urquidy will begin new rehabilitation

Astros right-hander José Urquidy made his second minor league rehab start upon returning from a forearm muscle strain Saturday, pitching four innings for Double-A Corpus Christi.

“It went really well,” manager Joe Espada said Sunday morning. “The plan is for him to do another (start of rehab) and then hopefully rejoin the club if everything goes well.”

Urquidy threw about 60 pitches in his start Saturday. He allowed seven hits in four innings and his fastball velocity reached 93 mph, according to Double-A Hooks. Urquidy was at Minute Maid Park on Sunday and said he felt good during the outing.

The Astros have not decided where Urquidy will make his third rehab start, Espada said. Corpus Christi and Triple-A Sugar Land are both at home this week. Urquidy could start Thursday on a regular rest or Friday on an extra day of rest. He has yet to pitch for Houston this season after suffering a forearm strain in spring training.
