Family: lawyer Jeffrey Limmer killed outside a Houston restaurant

The family of a Houston lawyer identified him as the man who police say was shot and killed after trying to intervene in a dispute between a customer and employees at a McDonald’s in the west of Houston over the weekend.

Houston Police Department officers responded to the scene of the shooting at 8147 Katy Freeway around 6 p.m. Saturday.

According to police, a customer was arguing with McDonald’s employees because he wanted a refund for his order. The victim, Jeffrey Limmer, reportedly intervened to try to calm the man down, but he instead turned his attention to Limmer.

They went outside where there was a verbal disagreement between them and Limmer pushed the customer down, according to police. The customer then went to his car and pulled out a gun before shooting Limmer.

HPD said the shooter fled the scene in a blue Ford pickup truck from the early 2000s.

Limmer, 46, was an associate in the Houston office of the Lewis Brisbois law firm. According to his biography on the company’s website, Limmer attended the University of Texas at Austin and the South Texas College of Law.
