Data may have been compromised in a cyber incident involving the London drug deal

London Drugs now confirms that some company data may have been compromised in a cybersecurity incident that led to the closure of stores in Western Canada weeks ago.

The company first reported the incident on April 28, forcing locations to remain closed for several days.

“Upon discovering the incident, we immediately took countermeasures to protect our network and data from further malicious activity and engaged third-party cybersecurity experts to assist with containment, remediation and recovery, and to conduct a forensic investigation to investigate the incident “To determine the cause and extent of the incident.” London Drugs said in a statement on May 18. It states that law enforcement and data protection officers have also been notified.

The company reiterates that there is no evidence that patient or customer databases have been compromised.

“Although our primary employee-specific databases do not appear to have been compromised, as part of our ongoing forensic investigation, we have found evidence that certain company files may have been compromised, some of which contain employees’ personal information,” the statement said.

“At this point, we cannot provide any information about the type or extent of employee personal data that may be affected, as we are in the process of reviewing the data affected.”

London Drugs says it has notified all employees “out of an abundance of caution,” adding that they will also be offered “24 months of free credit monitoring and identity theft protection, regardless of whether their information is ultimately found to have been compromised or not.” .” not.”

“Our review of the affected data has begun, but due to the file structures and the extent of the impact, which rendered many files unreadable, we expect it will take some time to complete. Once we have completed our review, we will contact all affected employees directly to inform them of what personal information about them, if any, may have been compromised,” London Drugs continued.
