On Sunday the temperatures will be even warmer with more sunshine

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) – The drier phase of weather has begun and it looks like it will continue into the coming week.

Warmer temperatures are expected Sunday afternoon.

As we wind down the weekend, a very similar day is expected on Sunday. Patchy fog is possible again in the early morning hours and shortly before sunrise. However, the fog should be able to clear quickly as the morning progresses, leading to another very warm and sunny afternoon. With easterly winds expected, high temperatures are expected to get even warmer, reaching (or even exceeding) 90 degrees away from the coast! It will also feel warmer and heat indices could reach the mid-90s.

The sunshine will continue over the next few days.

The rain-free pattern will continue until at least midweek, allowing a nice stretch to dry out. However, there will be higher humidity again on Tuesday as southerly winds pick up again, pushing heat indices even further into the 90s. But rain is not yet in the forecast. Some larger models suggest a weak cold front could end up a bit close to SWLA around Thursday before fading out. If it gets close enough, a few showers or an isolated storm would be possible later in the week. However, any heavy rain is likely to continue north of the region, ensuring the overall drier weather continues.

Higher humidity will occur next week, but most of the rain should stay north of SWLA.
