Shooting leaves one dead and one injured in Gastonia, GEMS says – WSOC TV

GASTONIA, N.C. — Authorities in Gastonia are trying to figure out what led to a deadly shooting Saturday afternoon.

Sources told Channel 9 the shooting happened on Dix Street at West Ashton Avenue just after 3 p.m.

This is the second fatal shooting to occur in the area on Saturday, the first involving an officer occurring just blocks away.

Gaston County Emergency Medical Services (GEMS) said one person died at the scene and another was seriously injured.

Investigators have not released any information about the cause of the shooting.
