The grateful church welcomed over a dozen Chicago police officers with cheers.

“Often the work they do is overlooked and seems to be undervalued,” said Pastor William Henley of Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Church. “We just wanted to say thank you.”

The 12th District officers had breakfast in her honor at Christ Temple Apostolic Church.

The church simply wanted to say thank you for all the sacrifices officials make every day.

“I think it’s morale-boosting to get a pat on the back sometimes and know that there’s someone out there who cares, someone’s praying for them, someone appreciates what they’re doing,” Henley said.

The church even took time to pray for the officers and their families as 12th District Commander Beth Giltmier expressed gratitude for the church’s gracious hospitality.

“Every day we talk to each other, we talk to the community and now we have even better friends,” Giltmier said. “This is great, it’s great to be here. The food was fantastic.”

A simple thank you in the form of a warm breakfast lifted the spirits of the hard-working officers.
