13 of a family died in an accident in Pakistan’s Punjab province

Lahore: At least 13 people from a family, including five children, were killed and nine injured on Saturday when a mini-truck they were traveling in veered off the road and plunged into a ravine in Pakistan’s Punjab province, rescue workers said.

According to Rescue 1122, the vehicle was traveling from Bannu district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to Khushab district in Punjab at the time of the accident.

The mini-truck veered off the road while negotiating a curve and plunged into a ravine in the Pench Pir area of ​​Khushab, about 250 kilometers from Lahore.

“As many as 13 people, including five children, died on the spot. Nine injured people have been shifted to a hospital where their condition is listed as critical,” an official said.

Rescue workers said the deceased and the injured belonged to an extended family who came to Khushab for work. According to some eyewitnesses, the driver lost control of the vehicle due to excessive speed.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed grief over the loss of life in the accident and directed authorities to provide best treatment options to those injured.
