Hall of Fame WR cleared of criminal charges

Dallas Cowboys Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin was cleared of criminal charges following a police investigation in Texas. The investigation, which focused on an unspecified “allegation” against Irvin, was closed weeks ago by police in Allen, Texas.

The case first came to light when NBC Sports’ Mike Florio reported the existence of an “allegation.” At the time, police confirmed that the investigation was still in its early stages.

Irvin’s attorney, Levi McCathern, vehemently denied any wrongdoing by Irvin, stating that there was “absolutely no truth” to the claim and that Irvin had not acted inappropriately.

This latest investigation is not the first legal challenge Irvin has faced.

In February 2023, he sued Marriott International in Collin County, Texas, for defamation and tortious interference in a business relationship. The hotel chain had accused Irvin of inappropriately addressing a female employee, which led to his suspension from all NFL media.

The lawsuit was settled in September and Irvin was reinstated at the station before his contract expired.

Michael Irvin, who played for the Cowboys for 12 seasons between 1988 and 1999, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2007. From 2009 to 2024, he worked as an analyst for the NFL Network.

Despite the recent legal battles, Irvin’s legacy remains as a prominent figure in football history.
