Red Dead Redemption 2 is a huge game with many secrets. While players take a break from the gun-toting cowboy life, they can play, tame horses, and even search for treasure. Using a treasure map, players can even find an island that contains gold bars.




The island is located in the middle of a lake called O’Creagh’s Run, but players will need the right map to find it. Find the lake and the treasure in it Red Dead Redemption 2 is not an easy task and requires finding some other cards first. What treasure maps are there?

Treasure maps make a return from Red Dead Redemption in the prequel. The maps are used to find valuable treasures by traveling to illustrated landmarks. Some are easier to find than others, but all offer something to solve the player’s problems. The following treasure maps are available in Red Dead Redemption 2:


  • Jack Hall Gang Treasure Map
  • Toxic trail treasure map
  • High stakes treasure map
  • Treasure map “Le Tresor des Morts”.
  • Landmarks of Riches map

Finding Treasure Island in Red Dead Redemption 2

Finding the island takes a few steps, but it’s worth it. First, players must find the stranger who has the first part of the Jack Hall Gang’s treasure map. The Stranger is located on a hill near Flatneck Station and the map can be purchased for $10. It is also possible to kill the stranger and steal his card. The map takes players to a location called Caliban’s Seat, which features a flat mountain. If you follow the red arrow on the map you will eventually get to the second part of the map. This time the map shows an area with thin trees and bursting geysers.


The area depicted is Cotorra Springs, north of Fort Wallace. Between three geysers, there is a rock arrangement where players will find $15 along with the final piece of the map. The final part of the map shows a lake with a small island in the middle – O’Creagh’s Run. The lake is located in Grizzlies East, north of New Hanover, and if players swim to the Island of Treasures, they can find two shiny gold bars.

What to do with gold bars?

Gold bars can be sold to a fence for $500 each, giving players a total of $1,000, which is a huge win early in the game. There are a handful of fences Red Dead Redemption 2which include:

  • North side of Rhodes
  • The south side of Emerald Ranch
  • East side of Saint Denis

It’s worth finding the remaining treasure maps and locating the loot they lead to. With the money they earn, players can buy weapons and fancy clothing and pay out the bounty they earn Red Dead Redemption 2.
