Police have arrested a bar manager in Mallorca on suspicion of raping a teenage British tourist.

Investigators allegedly hunted down two other men described as his friends who allegedly witnessed the sexual assault and “did nothing to prevent it.”

The 19-year-old holidaymaker raised the alarm after returning to her hotel in the early hours of yesterday morning.

She told police she was doused with alcohol in a bar in S’illot, a small tourist town on Mallorca’s southeast coast, before being taken to a storage room when she became dizzy and was “offered sex.” .

Respected island newspaper Ultima Hora said she claimed she was followed after she managed to open the storage room door and leave the unnamed bar – and was raped by the manager after she went to a secluded spot in the was brought close.

The two men, described as friends, are said to have observed the alleged sexual assault but did not stop it.

The man taken into custody is Spanish, as are the two friends the police are trying to locate. He has denied any wrongdoing.

He is expected to appear in court later today and the British teenager will be asked to confirm her police statement before the same judge who will question him before deciding whether he should be released on bail or remanded in custody .

The ongoing investigation is being led by the Civil Guard, who are awaiting the results of DNA tests, obtaining footage from surveillance cameras in the area and speaking to locals to see if they have seen any witnesses who could help them.

There has been no official comment from the police so far.

The trial of two men accused of sexually assaulting and robbing a British tourist in Magaluf in March last year ended yesterday in the Mallorcan capital Palma.

The two face prison sentences of 20 and 27 years, respectively, if convicted of their crimes.

The three judges are expected to deliver their ruling in writing in the coming weeks.
