No objection to action against grandson Prajwal Revanna if found guilty: Deve Gowda in sexual abuse case | Bangalore News

JD(S) patriarch HD Deve Gowda, who turned 92 on Saturday, broke his silence on the sexual abuse charges leveled against his grandson and MP Prajwal Revanna and said he has no objection to the action taken against him if he is found guilty. He, however, said that cases have been “opened” against his son and JD(S) MLA HD Revanna, who is accused of sexual harassment and kidnapping of a woman, but refrained from commenting further as the matter is one of servility act.

Recently, Gowda had announced his decision not to celebrate his birthday and asked well-wishers and party workers to extend wishes to him from anywhere.

“…I don’t want to comment on the things that are going on in court regarding Revanna. Prajwal Revanna went abroad because Kumaraswamy (Gowda’s other son and JD(S) chief in the state) said on behalf of our family that it was the government’s duty to take action in accordance with the laws of the land,” said Gowda.

Addressing the reporters, the former chief minister said, “There are several people related to this (sexual abuse cases), I don’t want to mention the names of anyone.” Kumaraswamy has said that against everyone involved in this matter implicated, action should be taken and the women affected should receive justice and compensation.”

“We have no objection to taking action against Prajwal. But people have learned (facts) about the allegations made against Revanna and how the case came about. In one case he has been granted bail, in another case the verdict will be the day after tomorrow… I don’t want to comment on it,” he said, agreeing with Kumaraswamy’s statement that if found guilty, no one should be spared.

Festive offer

Prajwal (33) is accused of multiple counts of sexual abuse of women. The scandal triggered a political storm as the ruling Congress and the BJP-JD(S) traded blows.

Prajwal reportedly left for Germany on April 27 and is still at large. An Interpol Blue Corner Notice was issued against him to bring him back. He was the joint candidate of the BJP-JD(S) alliance in the Hassan Lok Sabha segment that went to polls on April 26.
Meanwhile, Gowda’s 66-year-old son Revanna, a former minister, has been granted interim bail by a court here in a sexual harassment case in which his son Prajwal is also an accused.

Asked if there was a conspiracy to politically defame and denigrate his family, Gowda said: “It is true… Overall, several people are involved, I will not mention any names.” Kumaraswamy will say what action to take .” Responding to a query on BJP leader and lawyer G Devaraje Gowda’s allegations that Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar was behind the circulation of a USB drive containing explicit videos featuring Prajwal Revanna, Gowda said: Kumaraswamy will respond to all these questions answer.

“We saw what Devaraje Gowda said in the media. Kumaraswamy, as state president of the party, has actively responded to all this. He will speak, I will not speak at this point. I campaigned for the Lok Sabha polls. On June 4, after the Lok Sabha polls results are announced, I will meet you (media),” he added.

Gowda also appealed to mediapersons to stop campaigning near his house. “I also appeal to your owners.”
