VIPIR 6 ALARM DAY: Strong to severe storms are possible on Saturday

Update from Friday evening: It’s a cloudy and humid night over the CSRA, with temperatures dropping into the mid-60s. There will be a few showers and storms overnight. We are not expecting any storms this round. A VIPIR 6 ALERT DAY is planned for Saturday. There is some uncertainty regarding the timing and coverage of Saturday’s storms. At the moment, afternoon seems to be the best choice. The main concern will be damaging winds and large hail. There will be more showers and storms on Sunday. Although the intensity of this round does not seem to be as strong, we will be watching all trends closely. Looking ahead to next week, we get a short break from the hustle and bustle at the start of the week as high pressure builds again. Temperatures will rise from the upper 70s on Monday to the mid 80s on Wednesday. The nice weather won’t last, however, as a cold front will bring showers and storms again on Friday.
