The Chiefs’ Morris and Godrick were arrested for marijuana possession

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City Chiefs offensive linemen Wanya Morris and Chukwuebuka Godrick were arrested Thursday night in Johnson County, Kansas, on misdemeanor marijuana possession charges.

Both were booked into jail and released Friday after posting $2,500 bail.

The chiefs said they were aware of the arrests but had no further comment

Morris was the Chiefs’ third-round draft pick in 2023. As a rookie, he started four games at left tackle in place of the injured Donovan Smith. The Chiefs have said Morris will compete with rookie Kingsley Suamataia, a second-round draft pick, for the starting left tackle spot this season.

Godrick joined the Chiefs last season as a designated international pathway player. He spent the entire season on the practice squad.

Another Chiefs player, wide receiver Rashee Rice, was arrested in Dallas in March for his role in a six-car crash that injured at least seven people. Police say Rice was driving 119 miles per hour on a highway before causing the accident. Rice faces one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision causing serious bodily harm and six counts of collision causing bodily harm.

Rice is also a suspect in an alleged attack that injured a man at a Dallas nightclub.
