Clearfield County man killed in car crash

CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) – A 56-year-old man was killed in a car accident in Clearfield County on Friday.

Pennsylvania State Police responded to Rockton Mountain Highway (SR 322) in Union Township just before 1:30 p.m. on May 17 for a report of a motor vehicle accident. The accident occurred between a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix and a 2013 Ford Edge.


According to the PSP report, the Pontiac was traveling eastbound when a deer entered the roadway. The Pontiac struck the deer on the driver’s side, causing the driver to lose control and move into the other lane.

The Ford then crashed into the Pontiac on the passenger side. Both vehicles came to an uncontrolled stop on the westbound lane. Police determined that both the driver and passenger of the Pontiac were not wearing seatbelts and the airbags were not deployed.

The passenger in the Pontiac, a 56-year-old man from Luthersburg, died from his injuries. It is unknown if the driver was injured, but he was transported by EMS to Penn Highlands DuBois.

According to the release, both the driver and passenger of the Ford suffered minor injuries and were also taken to Penn Highlands DuBois.
