Father, son and dog killed in accident in Tucson – incident is being investigated as a homicide

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – A Tucson man, his son and the family dog ​​died Monday, May 13, in a crash that DPS officials say is being investigated as a homicide.

According to DPS, the accident occurred on eastbound Interstate 10 at milepost 25 just after 3 p.m.

They say a passenger sedan was traveling east on I-10 when traffic came to a standstill in the construction zone. The sedan took evasive action, collided with a second vehicle and pushed it into a third vehicle.

According to DPS, the original at-fault vehicle continued eastbound and collided with Vehicle #3 and Vehicle #4 before coming to a stop.

The people in vehicle #2 died from their injuries. Family members tell us the victims were Quinn Truitt, his five-year-old son Michael Truitt and their dog. They are a military family in Davis-Monthan.

DPS says this is currently being investigated as a homicide case and that the Vehicle Crimes Unit is investigating.

A GoFundMe has been set up for Quinn’s wife, Melissa Truitt, and her family as they cope with the losses.
