A man was shot and killed by West Virginia State Police after officials say he brandished a deadly weapon.

The West Virginia State Police are dispatched to Fairlea, West Virginia, in reference to a suspicious male person brandishing a deadly weapon.


Officers said they located Justin Denver Grant and ordered him to drop the deadly weapon, but Grant allegedly refused.

According to officers, they used a Taser on Grant, but it had no effect.

West Virginia State Police said Grant continued to refuse verbal orders to drop the deadly weapon as the situation escalated.

According to police, that’s when she fired a handgun, striking Grant.

Grant was transported by EMS to Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

West Virginia officers were not injured in this incident.

The incident is being investigated by the West Virginia State Police.
