Man charged with raping 14-year-old will be given $500,000 bond, Halifax County deputies say

LITTLETON, N.C. (WNCN) – A man accused of raping a juvenile is in jail Friday, according to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials said 53-year-old Joseph Robert Liles of Littleton turned himself in to authorities at the sheriff’s office on Friday.

They said warrants were obtained for his arrest after the sheriff’s office received a report on May 9 that he had sexually abused a 14-year-old victim.

Liles is charged with one count of statutory rape.

He was taken to the Halifax County Jail on $500,000 bail.
