One person was injured in an 18-wheeler accident north of Hempstead

The accident occurred at the intersection of Highway 6 and Kelley Road, just in front of a Bes Strop Chevron station north of Hempstead.

Preliminary reports indicate that the suspect is a 65-year-old man Friendswood was traveling north on the highway in a Dodge Ram pickup. A westbound 18-wheeler was stopped on Kelley Road and traveled across the northbound lanes to the intersection. The 18-wheeler then stopped at the intersection yield sign and left its trailer in the northbound lanes where the Friendswood A man’s pickup truck collided with it.

As a result of the collision, the Friendswood Man suffered serious injuries. No other injuries were reported as a result of the accident. Authorities have recommended that the 18-wheeler be cited for failure to yield the right of way. Further information cannot be confirmed at this time.
