Man convicted in 2021 quadruple shooting that killed two children at a Richmond supermarket

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A suspect found guilty on multiple counts related to a Quadruple shooting on November 12th, 2021 in a Richmond supermarket that resulted in the deaths of two children has been convicted.

According to a spokesman for the Richmond District Attorney’s Office, Zayon Everett was sentenced on Friday, May 17, on the following charges:

• Two counts of first degree murder – each sentenced to 30 years in prison, 10 of which were suspended
• Serious, malicious injury – sentenced to 25 years in prison, 18 of which are suspended
• Malicious wounding – sentenced to 20 years in prison, 15 of which are suspended
• Attempted murder – sentenced to 10 years in prison, seven of which were suspended
• Malicious shooting into a vehicle – sentenced to 10 years in prison, 10 of which are suspended
• Malicious shooting from vehicle – sentenced to 10 years in prison, 10 of which are suspended

On November 12, 2021, four people were shot at the OMG convenience store at the intersection of Creighton Road and Nine Mile Road in Richmond’s East End. Two boys, ages 9 and 14, were killed in the shooting. Two adults were seriously injured but eventually recovered.

Four suspectsidentified as Kalah Mangram, Javon Pegram, Clintoine Baker and Zayon Everett, were arrested and charged in connection with the shooting.

On January 10th this yearMangram was sentenced to 55 years active prison as one of the shooters and Pegram was sentenced to 47 years active prison as the driver of the shooting vehicle. Both were found guilty of seven counts each in connection with the shooting.

Baker is scheduled to appear for a jury trial at 10 a.m. May 21.
