Uttarakhand stands by the order to stop production of 14 Patanjali medicines

The stay order was challenged by Patanjali Ayurved and Divya Pharmacy.

Dehradun:

On Friday, the implementation of an order suspending the manufacturing licenses of more than a dozen medicines of Patanjali Ayurved Ltd and Divya Pharmacy was temporarily stayed.

The interim suspension will be imposed with immediate effect based on a preliminary inquiry report of a high-level committee, Pankaj Kumar Pandey, secretary to the Ayush government of the Uttarakhand government, said in an order.

“The order of suspension is unlawful and should not have been issued in the manner in which the licensing authority did,” said the report by the committee dealing with the matter.

The companies had challenged the suspension order issued by the Uttarakhand State Licensing Authority last month.

“As the license was revoked without following the procedure laid down by law, the committee submits its report to the government of Uttarakhand for appropriate decision,” it said.

The State Licensing Authority, Ayurvedic and Unani Services had last month suspended the manufacturing license of 14 Patanjali products under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1945 and the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act 1954.

The drugs whose manufacturing license was suspended included Swasari Gold, Swasari Vati, Bronchom, Swasari Pravahi, Swasari Avaleh, Mukta Vati Extra Power, Lipidom, BP Grit, Madhugrit, Madhunashini Vati Extra Power, Livamrit Advance, Livogrit, Eyegrit Gold and Patanjali Drishti eye drops.
