Jury trial begins in case of Fort Cavazos soldier accused of sexual assault of girl | crime

According to the 426th Judicial District Coordinator’s Office, jury selection began Monday.

Court and jail records show Watson was released from police custody after posting $150,000 bail.

A girl who was 15 years old in March 2018 reported the alleged assault to the Temple Police Department on July 23, 2018. According to a TPD spokesperson, the victim previously said the attack occurred on or about March 17, 2018.

Watson is accused of offering alcohol to two girls. After they drank it, Watson allegedly took a girl to his room, according to an affidavit. She told police she didn’t remember much of what happened, but did recall that Watson had a distinctive body piercing.

The next morning, Watson gave her a pregnancy prevention pill after finding out she wasn’t taking contraceptives, police said. The other girl said Watson gave her alcohol and she went to bed while the other girl and Watson were still awake.

The victim screamed for the other girl in July 2019.

Watson was interviewed by Army investigators, who determined he had the piercing described by the victim, according to the affidavit.

Watson was arrested on November 15, 2019 in Fort Cavazos.
