Kent Police catch teenage suspect in the act thanks to alert neighbour

Thanks to a vigilant neighbor, two teenage burglary suspects were caught escaping a house under construction.

It happened last week on Southeast 259th Street.

A neighbor saw the two teenagers jumping over a fence and running around with flashlights. He continued to watch the pair as they loaded a van with stolen equipment.

The police arrived while the neighbor was still on the phone to the emergency number. Officers were alerted when the vehicle began to flee and were able to stop it.

The 16 and 17 year old suspects were arrested and the property was seized. The witness was also able to provide officers with surveillance video of the crime.

The case was transferred to King County Juvenile Court.
