Live Recap of Day 3 Preliminaries

SPEEDO ATLANTA CLASSIC 2024

Friday’s preliminary session for the 2024 Atlanta Classic is scheduled to feature the women’s and men’s 200 free, 200 back, 400 individual medley and 100 fly.

Florida intern and US Olympic champion Katie Ledecky headlines another freestyle event, the women’s 200 freestyle, ahead of the top three in last night’s 400 freestyle. Madi Mintenko of Pikes Peak and current Florida Gator Bella Sims. Meanwhile, Florida Kieran Smith enters the men’s 200 freestyle event as the top seed before settling for third place in the 400 freestyle last night behind Venezuela Alphonse Mestre. Returning to the top 200 seeds of the preliminaries, the American Olympian Phoebe Bacon of Wisconsin and Virginia Cavalier Jack Aikins lead the women’s and men’s events respectively.

Another American Olympian, this one from Florida Emma Weyant, titles its flagship event, the 400 IM. At the same time, another American Olympian from Florida, Bobby Finke, will headline the men’s 400m individual medley event. Shifting gears to the 100 fly, Tennessee’s Josephine Fuller leads a star-studded peloton including the Egyptian-born Worlds medalist Farida Osman of Cal. In the men’s 100 butterfly, we should see the American Olympic champion from Florida Caeleb Dressel I’m looking to get another win here in Atlanta.

Katie Ledecky of the Gator Swim Club took the lead in the preliminary round of the women’s 200 freestyle in 1:58.09. She was as fast as 1:54.97 at last month’s San Antonio Pro Swim Series. Pikes Peak, 16, holds another place in the final. Madi Mintenkogiving to Gator Izzy Ivey a push to the finish in their heat for the top three seeds, 1:59.50 to 1:59.52.

that of Florida Emma Weyant is also spotted fourth with a time of 2:00.19 while Bella Sims I felt like I was also sailing this morning in 7th position in 2:01.48. Sandwiched between the Gators will be NYAC Gabby DeLoof (2:00.68) and that of Tennessee Camille Spink (2:00.96).
