NA suspends Tariq Bashir Cheema of the PML-N for the ongoing session for insulting Zartaj Gul of the PTI – Pakistan

The National Assembly on Friday suspended PML-Q MP Tariq Bashir Cheema from today’s session over his alleged insulting comments against PTI’s Zartaj Gul Wazir.

Cheema was addressing the gathering on Thursday where he was interrupted by Gul, who said he should instead speak about the Bahawalpur University case in which Cheema’s son was a suspect.

He then allegedly used abusive language against them, which led to an uproar from the PTI leadership, who attacked the PML-Q leader and created a ruckus in the assembly. The meeting was abruptly terminated.

Later, PTI lawmakers went to the speaker hall and demanded suspension of Cheema’s membership.

Informed sources reported dusk that NA spokesperson Ayaz Sadiq called Cheema, who later apologized “unconditionally” to Gul.

“Everyone told me, ‘Now that Cheema has come to you, you should let the matter go,'” she told reporters.

NA spokesperson Ayaz Sadiq moved a motion to suspend one Cheema for the remainder of the session and said during Thursday’s session, “An unfortunate incident took place between Tariq Cheema and Zartaj Gul.”

According to the application, Cheema violated Rule 30 of the Rules of Procedure and Procedure of the National Assembly, 2007, which states that no member shall “undermine” the “sanctity” or “dignity” of the House.

The speaker called him under Rule 21 of the same law, which gives the speaker the power to suspend members who violate the rules “if he deems it necessary.”

“In doing so, he undermined the sanctity of the House (…) by disrespecting the authority of the chairman, abusing the rules and deliberately (…) obstructing the proceedings,” he added.

The MNAs present overwhelmingly supported the suspension and approved the motion.

Speaker Sadiq said he would try to keep the House in order and yesterday praised members for their role.
