Flagstaff police identify suspect in Wednesday’s shooting at Bushmaster Park – KAFF News – Flagstaff

Flagstaff police have identified the man they arrested in connection with two shootings Wednesday morning, one at Bushmaster Park. Officials said they received a report of shots fired in the area of ​​Brannen Circle and Lone Tree around 9:24 a.m. According to witnesses, the suspect and another man emerged from a wooded area and began firing several shots into the air. They fled along the city path and could not be found. Police were then called to the Bushmaster Park area around 11:19 a.m. Several witnesses told police that a Native American fired his gun at several people. He also asked a group for a cigarette and then fired shots into the ground. Officers located the suspect, 33-year-old Alan French, in the area of ​​Fourth Street and Sixth Avenue, where he was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with multiple counts of disorderly conduct with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault and robbery. He is currently being held at the Coconino County Detention Center.

This isn’t the first time French has been arrested for something like this. In 2018, a French man and another man fired shots at the Bushmaster Park skate park. This happened after a fight between the two men and two others. He was arrested and found guilty of assault and two other charges. In this case he spent over two years in prison. French is currently on trial for disorderly conduct and trespassing in a separate case. However, French pleaded guilty to aggravated domestic violence in 2014 and to aggravated assault in 2011, which led to a disfigurement charge. French was also in prison in these cases.
