Teen says he was attacked by a group at Kenmore Station after the Red Sox game

An 18-year-old said he was brutally attacked by a group of teenagers in an MBTA station after a Red Sox game, resulting in serious injuries. “I got eight stitches in my lip, my lip was cut, my tooth came up.” “My lip up here. I had a concussion and bruises all over my body,” Phoenix Soares said. The Duxbury teen said a group of about 20 teens reportedly followed him and his friends into Kenmore Station. “Half started kicking me, half started hitting me, and more punches,” Soares said. Soares and his friends had planned to have a fun evening in Boston. “We just wanted to go to the Red Sox game, have a nice evening in Boston and come back.” “They ran up to us, cornered us and split us into two different groups of two,” Soares said. Despite not knowing any of the attackers, Soares found himself at the center of a violent attack. “I was punched in the face and then when I tried to defend myself I saw eight other people surrounding me and then I got beaten up,” he said. Soares was unsure of the motive behind the attack. “Maybe. They confused us with another group of kids or something, but we’ve never seen them in our lives,” he said. “I hope they are all found. I hope there are consequences for their actions.” “There is forgiveness in that, but what you did should not be done to anyone.” MBTA Transit police said they are investigating the incident.
