Sioux City man found guilty of sexually abusing 13-year-old

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – A Sioux City man was found guilty Wednesday of sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl.

Jason Haire, 19, was found guilty of second-degree sexual abuse by a jury on Wednesday.

According to court documents, the girl said Haire sexually assaulted her on Feb. 19, 2024, while she was staying at a family friend’s home. Haire allegedly admitted to authorities that he had sexual contact with her. After telling her parents about the alleged incident, the girl was taken to a hospital.

Haire also allegedly admitted to giving her marijuana “several times.” He was charged with distribution of a controlled substance to a minor. However, this charge was dismissed due to the need for further evidence.

A court hearing is scheduled for July 3. Second-degree sexual abuse carries a maximum sentence of 25 years.
