2 dead after fatal crash in Fresno County, CHP says

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) — Two people have died in a crash at a Fresno County intersection that has proven dangerous in the past.

The accident occurred just after 2 p.m. Thursday at De Wolf and North Avenue, southwest of Sanger.

California Highway Patrol officials say a white Chevy pickup was traveling east on North Avenue when it crashed into a red Mitsubishi that was traveling north on DeWolf.

Officers are still trying to determine if the Mitsubishi stopped at the stop sign.

Two people in the Mitsubishi died.

The driver and passenger of the Chevy were taken to the hospital with moderate to serious injuries.

Accidents often occur at the intersection of DeWolf and North Avenue. In December 2022, two people died after a large truck smashed into their car.

Neighbors in the area previously told Action News there had been several accidents in the area. They blame the intersection itself for the extremely limited visibility.

CHP said North Avenue is expected to be closed for several hours.
