Police responded to a call on May 13 from a woman who said her husband had shot their dog, Stinson said. The woman told dispatchers that her husband killed their bulldog because he was allergic to the animal and no longer wanted it.

The caller said she was inside the house when she heard a loud bang, at which point York told her, “Your dog is dead; I just shot him,” Stinson said.

Police said they discovered the dog on the porch suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.

York was held at the Al Cannon Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
