According to NC soldiers, a woman was killed by a stone thrown through the windshield

State troopers are asking anyone who sees a white truck in the area to call the Highway Patrol immediately.

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — A woman died in a crash Wednesday in Burke County after a rock was thrown through her windshield, state troopers said.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol was called to a fatal crash along Conley Road near Jeeter Carswell Road near Morganton on Wednesday evening. According to police, the driver of a 2006 Ford Taurus, 23-year-old Brittany Elizabeth Ferguson, veered off the right side of the road and struck a house. Ferguson was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Police determined that Ferguson was killed by a rock thrown through her windshield before the accident.

Witnesses told investigators they saw a white Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck driving back and forth in the area after the crash. They said a man was riding in the back of the truck.

State troopers are asking anyone who saw this truck to call immediately at 828-466-5500 to help identify the driver and the person in the bed of the truck.
